Prize of honor

Each year in October, The Dreyer Foundation awards DKK 400,000 to an architect and a lawyer who has distinguished themselves through an especially valuable contribution within his or her field.

With the distribution of The Dreyer Foundation Prize of Honor 2009, The Dreyer Foundation wishes to honor two persons who are passionate about working for a more sustainable way out of our environmental and climate crisis in their respective disciplines.

Architect Richard Leplastrier was awarded for his understanding of the true meaning of sustainability, based on a philosophy best summed up by the motto: ‘Let’s cultivate less!’

Lawyer Birgitte Refn Wenzel was awarded for her expertise on environmental law issues including law suits relating to soil contamination, the environmental protection act, the planning act, the nature protection act, the water supply act, the energy act etc, administrative law, litigation, environmental due diligence.

Architect Richard Leplastrier and lawyer Birgitte Refn Wenzel were awarded The Dreyer Foundation Prize of Honor at a function in Copenhagen on Thursday 22 October, where Danish Television’s (DR) Climate Correspondent Steffen Kretz talked about the climate’s condition under the headline: ’The ice on Greenland is melting – how concerned should we be?’

Steffen Kretz reports daily from around the world on both Danish television and radio regarding the impact of global warming. He was previously DR’s correspondent in the Middle East based in Amman, and before that correspondent in New York.
