The founders

The Dreyer Foundation was founded by architect Thorvald Dreyer and high court solicitor Margot Dreyer on 5 April 1976, with a starting capital of DKK 12 million.

The couple had amassed a fortune through the construction and administration of a series of large buildings in Copenhagen.

After Thorvald Dreyers death in 1980 and Margot Dreyers death the year after, the foundation inherited the majority of the couple’s fortune.

Most of the inherited estate is still owned or partly owned by the foundation and, along with subsequent property investments, forms the basis of the foundation’s revenue.
